Pesto Pastor (XA Winter Retreat Talent Show 2016)

This (timely) song is about how our pride gets so wrapped up in our politics that we sometimes miss the point of it all. It calls on us as Christians across the spectrum to humble ourselves and listen in closely to the hearts of others.

Did I mention that Jolene and I won the show?

Paying Tribute to the Greats, In Style and In Song

I am just a reflection of so many who have come before me.

 对面的女孩看过来 (阿牛 Cover)

I was invited to perform a Chinese-Malaysian song at the Colors of Southeast Asia event at AU in April of 2014. This song is a staple single within Mandarin-speaking parts of Asia; I grew up singing it.

This is one of the few cases where you will ever catch me singing in Mandarin Chinese.

The Thrill Is Gone (B.B. King Cover)

It was Christmas of 2015, and there was a karaoke bar in the restaurant. I had to pay tribute to B.B. King by giving my own rendition his most famous song.

Alas, the King died the next summer.

Mrs. Incredible (Spring 2015)

I wrote this song in the summer of 2014 as a tribute to one of my favorite movies, The Incredibles. My good friend Jess Lawson was cool enough to sing this with me.

Perhaps one day in the future, I could write a musical.

Classy Cities, Time Aplenty (Fall 2014)

I wrote this song out of frustration about the degredation of dancing, partying and young love— about how they have been marred by our selfish lusts.

This song pleads for us to reach back to the pure heart of why we dance, and why we love.

Sunday Morning (Maroon 5 Cover)

After a semester away from high school, I returned to Shanghai and got back together with some good old musician friends and perform some hearty soul and jazz.

All the solos were improvisational.

Got My Mojo Working (Muddy Waters Cover)

After six years of trekking all over the world in search of the perfect blues band, I finally managed to find it in Rio. During the break between the two sets of the England vs. Italy game, I went out to buy beer for the crew (and a sandwich for myself). As I was walking down the street, I heard live music playing from one of the bars next to me. I had to go in.

Santeria (Sublime Cover)

This performance happened during my senior year in high school back in Shanghai.

Sublime was one of my early reggae influences, as I would listen to them all the time.
